Brown Betty Teapot 6 cup

Original Hand Made Traditional Brown Betty Teapot in Brown Rockingham Glaze.  Made in Staffordshire England.  6 Cup Capacity.

The origins of the Brown Betty Teapot go back to the end of the 17th Century and to the birth of the British ceramic teapot.

Affectionately known as Red Ware Teapots, they are considered by some to make the best pot of tea because the shape of the
pot causes the tea leaves to be gently swirled around as the boiling water is added, and the dense clay holds the heat well as the tea is brewing.

Our Brown Betty Teapots are still made from the original formulas as used in the 1800's.  The dense terracotta clay in combination with the Rockingham Brown Glaze produces a high gloss, rich warm brown Teapot that graces the table and will provide years of tea brewing pleasure.  All original Brown Bettys are hand made and as such have tiny imperfections - this does not affect either their looks or service.

All our "Bettys" have the official "Made in England" label and hang-tag, and the bottom and/or side of the pot is embossed into the clay at the time of production "Official Staffordshire Made in England".

The pots are dishwasher safe and heat resistant.

**Some vendors have stopped selling the Brown Betty's due to glaze production problems in late 2006 and 2007.  The glaze, after a few uses, would develop fine lines in a spiderweb type of pattern - this is commonly called 'crazing'.  This occurred in a small percentage of the Brown Bettys but was very annoying and we replaced the 'crazed' pots at no charge to the customer.  All problems were on Brown Bettys which were not embossed into the clay "Official Staffordshire Made in England". Since 2008 we have had no problems with the Brown Bettys and they should give years of good service.
